Pennsylvania Pasta with Crimini Mushrooms

The egg noodles are famous in Dutch cooking but they love potatoes and are served as a side dish with a meat with some sort of pasta dish.
Ingredients -
3 Tablespoons Butter
1/3 Cup Onion (chopped)
1/2 Teaspoon on Ground Coriander
1/2 Teaspoon Chili Powder
1 Teaspoon Garlic (minced)
1/4 Teaspoon Fresh Cracked Black Pepper
1 Teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Lemon juice
¼ Cup Dry Red Wine
1 Teaspoon Sugar
1 Tablespoon Soy Sauce
1/2 Pound Fresh Crimini (Sliced)
1 Package of Egg Noodles (minced, 5 ounces)
1 1/2 Tablespoons Cornstarch (mixed with 1/3 cup cold water)
 
Preparation:

1. In the skillet melt the butter in a skillet and add the onion.

2. Over medium high heat sauté over the onion is just translucent which takes about 1 to 2 or minutes.

3. Stop the cooking by adding 1/2 cups of water to the skillet.

4. Stir in the seasonings, soy sauce, lemon juice, wine, sugar, and the mushrooms and turn the heat to low.

5. Cover the skillet with a tight-fitting lid and simmer for 30 minutes.

6. Meanwhile bring a pot of lightly salted water (about 4 quarts) to a boil.

7. Add the noodles and cook until just slightly firm.

8. Drain.

9. While the noodles are cooking, stir the cornstarch mixture into the mushrooms and heat until thickened.

10. Place the noodles on a serving dish and spoon the mushrooms and sauce over.

Meal Suggestion
With this meal I suggest that you drink the same dry red wine that you cook the meal with. That way it will complement the meal and it’s always fun to have an excuse to drink anyways.

If you don’t have crimini mushrooms don’t worry, you can substitute any kind of mushrooms you want. All mushrooms are great in this recipe.
